Byron Sleugh is a versatile low brass musician based in Los Angeles, California. Specializing in tenor, bass, and contrabass trombone, he also doubles on tuba and euphonium.

Byron can be heard regularly performing with groups such as the Disneyland Band, Santa Monica Symphony, South Side Symphony, and many others. He has also performed with many west coast orchestras including the Long Beach Symphony, Fresno Philharmonic, and the Monterey Symphony. Byron has also shared the stage with Jennifer Hudson, Andrea Bocelli, T-Pain, Anderson .Paak, Dr. Dre, Lalah Hathaway, and more. In addition to spirited live performances, Byron has also played on scores for film, television, and new media projects such as Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, Venom: The Last Dance, Twisters, The Color Purple (2023), and Ahsoka.

In addition to being an in-demand performer, Byron also loves teaching. He can be found teaching with the Los Angeles Philharmonic’s YOLA program, South Pointe Middle School, LA City College, and Pierce College in the Los Angeles area.

Byron completed his undergraduate degree at the University of North Texas and graduated with a Master’s of Music from the University of California – Los Angeles (UCLA) where he now serves as a member of the Herb Alpert School of Music Alumni Board.

When he is not working, Byron enjoys cooking, video games, watching or playing basketball, and spending time with his cat, Dizzy.
